Please Note: the University of Padova does not have a campus and the Departments are spread all over the town. Therefore, you'd better not simply ask for 'the University' if you do not wish to be given fuzzy indications.
Directions to conference venue
Technical Program and Music Program
Palazzo Bo (hosting the Technical Program) and the Conservatory (hosting the Music Program) are conveniently located in the city center, at walking distance from each other (about 600 m). Both Palazzo Bo and the Conservatory are at walking distance from the train station and from the main bus station (less than 1500 m). Buses stop in the vicinity of both venues.- The Technical Program takes place in the Aula Magna "Galileo Galilei" of the University. The entrance is from the so-called Cortile Antico (ancient court), in Via 8 Febbraio 1848, no. 2. The Hall is at the first floor.
- The Music Program takes place in the Auditorium of the Conservatory. The entrance is from Via Cesare Cassan, 15.

Summer School and Rencon Workshop
DEI, the Dept. of Information Engineering (hosting the Summer School and the Rencon Workshop) is located in the so-called Portello area. It is still at walking distance from the train station (about 1700m) and from Palazzo Bo/Conservatory (about 1500m).- Rencon takes place in the Aula Magna "A. Lepschy" of DEI. From the entrance (in Via Gradenigo 6/A), one has to walk past the first building ("DEI/G" building) and reach the "DEI/D" building. The Hall is at the first floor.
- The Summer School takes place in the DEI/D laboratory, adjacent to the Aula Magna "A. Lepschy".

How to reach Padova...
...by plane
The closest airport is Venice Airport, www.veniceairport.it. From there you can reach Padova by coach or train.
- by coach: you can use SITA bus service (SITA). Departures are every 30 minutes from just beside the airport's entrance hall. In the timetable select VENEZIA AEROPORTO TESSERA (Airport) as departure (Fermate di Partenza) and PADOVA AUTOSTAZIONE (coach station) as arrival (Fermate di Arrivo), select the travel day (Data di viaggio) and then click on CORSE DI ANDATA.
- by bus + train: reach the Mestre-Venice railway station by bus ATVO Fly Bus or ACTV bus n° 15; for ACTV see the timetable from AEROPORTO (Airport) to STAZIONE FS (Railway station), feriale (weekday) or festivo (holiday). Take a train to Padova (Trenitalia, www.trenitalia.com). The trip is around 30 + 20 minutes.
A suitable low-cost alternative is Treviso Airport, www.trevisoairport.it. From there you can reach Padova again by coach or train.
- by coach: you can use La Marca bus service (La Marca). Departures are approximately every 30 minutes from near the airport's entrance hall. See the daily timetable here (choose Line 1 TREVISO-NOALE-PADOVA from Treviso Aeroporto to Padova Autostazione).
- by bus + train: reach Treviso railway station by ACTT bus n° 6; see the timetable from AEROPORTO (Airport) to STAZIONE FS (Railway station), feriale (weekday) or festivo (holiday). Take a train to Padova (Trenitalia, www.trenitalia.com) directly or via Mestre. The trip is around 15 + 60 minutes.
If you want to reach Padova from either of the two airports by cab or shuttle, there is an Air service (Coop. Radiotaxi Patavina, www.taxipadova.com) with a collective minibus. Book 24 hours in advance by e-mail (see site). An equivalent service is offered by Landomas, www.landomas.it.
...by train
Routes and timetables can be found at Trenitalia web site, www.trenitalia.com. From Padova railway station you can then reach the venue either by taxi, bus, tram, or walk.
- by taxi: the taxi parking is in front of padova railway station (www.taxipadova.com, tel +39 049 651333. It takes approximately 5 minutes to reach the venue.
- by bus: From Padova train station take APS bus number 3 or 12 and stop at 'Riviera dei Ponti Romani'.
- by foot: in any case, the venue is at a walking distance: it takes max 15 minutes by foot to get to the Conservatory from the train station and a further 5 minutes to get to Palazzo Bo. The Dept. of Information Engineering can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.
...by car
From A4 highway exit to 'Padova Ovest'. The city centre is almost entirely a limited traffic zone (ZTL). The nearest accessible place is Piazza Eremitani. Below is the (not very easy) route you should follow to get there arriving from the highway exit.

Accommodation
Hotels of all standards, from cheap to luxury hotels, can be found within walking distance of the conference venue. Several hotels have agreements for special rates with the University of Padova, that should guarantee a special price. Do not forget to mention that you are guest of the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padova when booking the room.
